EVERY FRAME IS YOURS. CUT. JOIN. TELL IT.
Video Cutter pulls the parts you want out of a long video as separate clips. You type the ranges you want to cut line by line or paste a ready-made list of times: lines such as “00:00:05 - 00:00:12” or “5 - 12” are recognized automatically, each line becomes a clip, and all of them are produced in a single run. To find the ranges, watch the video in the player above and step through it frame by frame.
The default output format is a copy without re-encoding: the picture is cut without being touched, quality is preserved exactly, and the job takes seconds. For frame-accurate cutting you can choose H.264, for the smallest file AV1, and for handing over to an editing program ProRes 422 HQ. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM and M4V files can be uploaded up to 10 GB, and clips are downloaded one by one or all together.
From start to finish
- Upload your video. Drag the file in or select it; it opens in the player. Step frame by frame or from key frame to key frame to find your cut points.
- Type your ranges. Type one range per line or paste your list of times; lines are checked instantly and faulty ones are marked. To name a clip, add something like “| Opening” to the end of its line.
- Create the clips and download. Choose the output format (default: copy without re-encoding) and press “Create”. Clips can be downloaded as they become ready; they are deleted from the server when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Does quality drop when cutting?
Not in copy mode without re-encoding: picture and sound are copied as they are. In that mode the cut lands on the nearest key frame; if you need an exact frame, choose H.264, and only the range you selected is re-encoded so the cut is frame-accurate.
How many pieces can I take out of one video?
There is no limit; every clip is added to the list and they are all produced in one run. For a large number of cuts, paste the ranges line by line into the time list box: hour:minute:second, seconds or decimal seconds are all recognized, and writing “5 - 12 | Opening” gives the clip a name.
Can I join the clips I cut into one video?
This tool gives you the clips as separate files. To put them end to end, upload the clips to the “Video Merger” tool; the order follows the upload order. If you want to drop a section from the middle of a video, cut the part before it and the part after it as two clips, then merge the two.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
