Lowers playback speed for a slow-motion effect.

STRETCH THE MOMENT, SHOW THE DETAIL.
Slow Down Video lowers the playback speed and gives a slow-motion effect. The speed is set between 0.10× and 0.95×: 0.75× is a gentle slowdown, 0.5× is half speed, 0.25× is quarter speed. The audio slows by the same amount; because it does not sound natural at very low speeds, the “Drop the audio” option lets you take only the picture. Sports movements, product shots and fast moments such as a drop or a splash gain detail with this tool.
Slow motion does not create new frames: the existing frames are simply shown for longer. A video shot at 60 frames per second is still smooth at 0.5× (an effective 30 frames per second), while a 30-frames-per-second source starts to look jerky at 0.25×. So film the scenes you plan to slow down at a high frame rate where you can. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM and M4V files can be uploaded up to 10 GB; the output is encoded as MP4, WebM or AV1. You can upload up to 8 videos at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your video. Drag the file in or select it. The frame rate is read; if the source is 60 frames per second, 0.5× stays smooth.
- Choose the speed. Pick a speed between 0.10× and 0.95× with the slider; at 0.25× and below, dropping the audio is recommended. Set the output format and quality.
- Slow down and download. Watch the progress; the new duration appears on screen. Download it; the copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the picture look jerky?
The source frame rate is low and the chosen speed is very slow: taking a 30-frames-per-second video to 0.25× repeats every frame four times. Try 0.5×, or film the scene at 60 frames per second and slow it down again. The tool does not create in-between frames; the methods that do leave artificial traces in the picture.
What happens to the audio?
It is slowed with its pitch preserved; at 0.75× it sounds natural, at 0.5× stretched but still clear, and at 0.25× distorted. For slow-motion scenes, dropping the audio and then putting music on with “Add Audio to Video” gives a cleaner result.
Can I slow down only part of the video?
This tool slows the whole video by the same amount. For section-by-section slow motion, separate the scene with “Video Cutter”, slow it down here, then put it back with “Video Merger”.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
