FIND THE FACES, HIDE THEM, SHARE.
Blur Faces finds the faces in a photo on its own and makes them impossible to identify; you don't have to mark the area by hand. Faces are searched with YuNet, OpenCV's open-source model. The image is scanned at several scales, so both the small faces in a group photo and the large face in a close-up are caught. Each face is covered with a soft-edged oval that also takes in the forehead and chin; every pixel outside the face stays as it is.
“Method” has three options: Blur, Pixelate and Black cover. “Intensity” sets how strong the blur is or how large the pixels are; even the lightest level makes the face impossible to identify. With “Detection sensitivity” on High, small, side-turned or partly covered faces are caught too, but an area that is not a face may also be covered. If no face is found in the image, the file is not processed and you are told so clearly. EXIF data (location, device) is removed by default. You can upload up to 20 images at once; several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your photo. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, BMP or TIFF; up to 20 images at once.
- Pick the method and intensity. Blur, Pixelate or Black cover. If there are small or side-turned faces, set “Detection sensitivity” to High.
- Check and download. The result card shows how many faces were found. Check in the preview that every face is covered, then download.
Frequently asked questions
Does it find every face?
It finds most of them, but it can't guarantee all. Very small (under 10 pixels), turned away, harshly lit or largely covered faces can be missed. So check the preview before you share; if a face was missed, set “Detection sensitivity” to High and try again.
Can a blurred face be restored?
In the output, the face's pixels are changed for good; no separate layer or undo data is kept. Strong blur and pixelation make the face impossible to identify; the surest way to hide it is “Black cover”, because no information from the face remains.
Where does my photo go?
The face detection model runs on the RUPO server; your image is not sent to any other service or AI provider. When the job is done and you leave the tool, the copy on the server is deleted.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
