KEEP THE TRANSPARENCY, MOVE TO PNG.
WebP → PNG turns a WebP image into the lossless PNG format while keeping the transparency. Logos, icons and product images with the background removed that you download from the web usually come as WebP; PNG is the safest format for taking them into editing programs, presentations and design tools. The conversion is lossless: every pixel and every transparent area in the WebP is carried over as it is.
Because PNG is lossless there is no quality setting; EXIF information is deleted by default and kept if you want. The file gets bigger than the WebP; that is normal, PNG does its compression losslessly. If a small file matters and you do not need transparency, “WebP → JPG”; if you do need transparency but want the file to stay small, keeping the image as WebP is the most efficient thing to do. You can upload up to 20 images at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your WebP file. Drag the file in or select it. The dimensions and the transparency details are read.
- Make your EXIF choice. There is no other setting: PNG is lossless, so the quality level is not used.
- Convert and download. The PNG is ready within seconds, with the transparent areas preserved. Download it; the copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Are the transparent areas really preserved?
Yes. PNG carries an alpha channel; the transparency in the WebP, including semi-transparent edges, is transferred exactly. To check the result, you can see where the transparent areas are with the “Transparency Checker” tool.
Why did the file get bigger?
WebP uses lossy or efficient lossless compression; PNG is a less efficient but universal lossless format. The growth is the expected result; it is not a problem with the quality.
What happens with an animated WebP?
Only the first frame is taken as PNG; PNG does not carry moving pictures.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
