TRIM THE EXCESS, TIGHTEN THE FRAME.
Image Crop cuts as much as you want from the edges of a photo or image. The crop is set with four values: from the left, top, right and bottom, each between 0% and 95%. The reason for percentages instead of pixels is simple: the same setting produces the same framing on a 4000-pixel photo and on a vertical phone shot alike. For example, cutting 10% from every edge keeps the central 80% of the image. If you pick a preset ratio (1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:5, 4:3, 3:4, 2:3, 3:1 or 1.91:1), the frame locks to it around the same midpoint. Choose “Circle” as the shape and everything outside the frame turns transparent: with the ratio on “Free” you get a perfect circle, with any other ratio an ellipse.
The output format can be WebP, PNG, JPG or AVIF. WebP and AVIF keep transparency; JPG does not and turns transparent areas white. Quality comes in five levels; since PNG is lossless, the quality setting is not used there. The orientation stored in phone photos is applied before cropping, so the image is cropped the way you see it on screen. EXIF information is removed by default. If you want to bring an image to a specific pixel size without cropping, “Image Resizer” is the better fit. You can upload up to 20 images at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your image. Drag and drop or choose the file. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, BMP, TIFF and GIF are accepted.
- Set the edges and format. Enter the percentage to cut from each edge. Then choose the output format and quality; WebP and Balanced are a good start for the web.
- Crop and download. Check the result in the preview and download it. The copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Why percentages rather than pixels?
Percentages don't depend on resolution. Apply the same setting to images of different sizes and you always get the same proportional crop, without calculating pixels for each image.
What if I cut too much?
If the left and right values (or the top and bottom values) together cover the whole image, no crop is applied and the image is returned unchanged. Each edge can be at most 95%.
Does the quality drop?
With PNG there is no loss. WebP, JPG and AVIF are lossy, but at High (88%) and above the difference isn't visible. The cropped area itself can't be recovered, so keep the original.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
