ENLARGE IT WITHOUT LOSING THE DETAIL.
Image Upscale enlarges an image 2, 4 or 8 times with the Real-ESRGAN neural network. Unlike classic enlargement, the model rebuilds edges and textures from the patterns in the low-resolution image; the result is not a blurry enlargement but a sharper picture. It is used to improve old photographs, small product images, low-resolution images taken from the web, or drawings to be enlarged for print.
The “Image type” setting decides how the model behaves: Photo, Drawing / anime or Logo / sharp edges; a separate model is used for drawings. You can also add a light sharpening to the result if you want. If the model is not available on the server at that moment, the tool falls back to classic upscaling and clearly writes in the result which engine was used. At large scales such as 8× the job can take minutes. The model produces plausible detail, but that detail is not the original; if faces and text are badly broken in the source, the guess can be wrong. Images of up to 40 MB can be uploaded.
From start to finish
- Upload your image. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP or TIFF; up to 40 MB.
- Pick the scale and the type. 2× or 4× for most jobs. Pick the photo, drawing or logo type correctly.
- Upscale and download. The engine used and the new size are written in the result. PNG is lossless; pick WebP for a smaller file.
Frequently asked questions
Does it really create detail?
The model rebuilds edges and texture from the patterns in the low-resolution image, and the result is noticeably sharper than the blur of a classic enlargement. But the detail it produces is a guess: it will not make readable a text that was never in the source, and on metallic or very fine patterns it can invent texture.
When do I need 8×?
On very small sources, for example when a 200-pixel icon has to go to a large print. For most photos 2× or 4× is both faster and more natural.
Why does the result say “Classic upscaling”?
If the model is not available on the server at that moment, the tool enlarges with the classic method rather than abandoning the job, and says so plainly. In that case the result is the same as a classic enlargement; no new detail is produced.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
