JSON → CSV
Expands JSON records into a table.
This tool runs on JavaScript. To use it, turn on JavaScript in your browser and reload the page.
OPEN JSON INTO A TABLE.
JSON → CSV turns JSON records into a CSV file that opens in a spreadsheet. The most common form is a list of objects; each object becomes a row and each key a column. A container object with a single list inside it, which is common in API responses (an object holding only a “veriler” list, for example), is recognised too and the list inside it is made into the table. The columns are lined up in the order in which the keys first appear; a field missing from a record stays an empty cell.
With the “Flatten nested fields” option switched on, nested objects are opened into dotted column names such as “adres.sehir”, and lists into numbered columns such as “etiket.0”, “etiket.1”; no value is lost, only its place changes. The column separator can be a comma, a semicolon or a tab. Because spreadsheet programs set to Turkish count the comma as a decimal separator, choose the semicolon if you are going to open the table there. If the JSON is broken, the line and column of the error are given. Files up to 32 MB can be uploaded. You can upload up to 20 files at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your JSON file. Drag a JSON or TXT file in or select it.
- Choose the separator and the flattening. The semicolon for a spreadsheet set to Turkish. With nested data, leave the flattening on.
- Convert and download. Download the CSV once it is ready. The number of records and columns is written on screen.
Frequently asked questions
When I open the CSV, all the data is in one column.
The separator the program expects is different. Spreadsheets set to Turkish expect a semicolon; run the tool again with the semicolon.
What happens to nested data?
With flattening on, every inner value is written into its own column: a record {“adres”: {“sehir”: “İzmir”}} becomes İzmir in the “adres.sehir” column.
What if I upload a single object?
A single object becomes a table of one row. If it is an object carrying a single list inside it, that list is made into the table.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
