TURN A PDF PAGE INTO A LOSSLESS PNG.
PDF → PNG converts PDF pages into lossless PNG images. PNG has no compression artefacts: thin lines, small text and sharp edges stay exactly as they are, which makes it the right choice for technical drawings, forms, tables and presentation pages. The format is royalty-free and every browser and operating system opens it. Pages are rasterised with Chrome's PDF rendering engine (PDFium); embedded fonts and vector drawings appear in full. The price is file size: at 300 dpi a page with photos can be several megabytes.
PNG has no quality setting; file size depends on resolution and on what the page contains. A text page created on a computer comes out about the same size as an 88% JPG; a photo or scanned page grows to several times the JPG size. For drawings, forms and tables 200 dpi is usually enough; choose 300 dpi if you will zoom in on the output or print it. If a very large page, such as a poster, would exceed 40 megapixels, that page is drawn at a lower resolution and the result screen says so. For specific pages type 1, 3-4 or 7-; up to 300 pages of one document are converted per run. Text in the output is drawn as pixels and cannot be edited; for text use “PDF → Word”. You can upload up to 8 PDFs at once; with several documents, each one's output sits in the ZIP under its own name.
From start to finish
- Upload your PDF. Drag in or pick a drawing, form, table or presentation file.
- Choose the pages and resolution. Leave it empty and every page becomes a PNG. 150 dpi is balanced, 300 dpi is print quality.
- Download. A single page downloads as a .png; with several pages the file names carry the page number and all arrive in one ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the PNG files large?
PNG is lossless; it stores every pixel as it is. If you want a small file, lower the resolution to 110–150 dpi or use the “PDF → WebP” tool; WebP gives a much smaller file with the same look.
Does the PNG have a transparent background?
No. The page is drawn on white and the PNG is saved without an alpha channel, so the image looks the same in every program and on any background colour. Empty areas of the PDF also become white.
Should I choose PNG for scanned PDFs?
Usually not. A scanned page is already a photo; PNG adds no sharpness, it only makes the file bigger. On a scanned page PNG takes several times the space of JPG. For scans choose “PDF → JPG” or “PDF → WebP”; PNG makes a difference on pages created on a computer, at the edges of text and lines.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
