QR Code Reader
Reads the QR code in an image.

READ A QR CODE WITHOUT A CAMERA.
The QR Code Reader reads the QR code in a screenshot or a photo and shows you the text inside it. Use it to decode a code on a computer without a camera, in a screenshot that reached your phone, or in an image you saved out of a PDF. If the image holds several codes, all of them are found. The image is enlarged when needed so that small codes can still be read; codes with a transparent background are placed on white before they are read.
The type of each piece of content is written out as well: link, Wi-Fi setting, contact card, e-mail, phone number or plain text. For safety the content is shown exactly as it is; even a link is not opened and is not made clickable. QR codes can be used to send people to fake sites without showing where they lead; read the address first and open it yourself if you trust it. If no code is found, you are reminded that the whole code has to be in frame, with enough contrast and not at too much of an angle. The result can be downloaded as JSON.
From start to finish
- Upload your image. Drag or select the screenshot or photo that holds the QR code.
- Read the content. The number of codes found, the type of each code and its content appear on screen.
- Use it safely. Check the address before you open a link; copy it and paste it into your browser yourself if you need to.
Frequently asked questions
No code was found. What can I do?
Make sure the whole code is in the image, that it is not blurred and that it is not at too much of an angle. Cropping the code and uploading it as a larger image usually works.
Why is the link not clickable?
For safety. QR content is untrusted data; opening it without seeing the address can take you to a fake site. Read the address and, if you trust it, copy it and open it.
Can I see the password from a Wi-Fi code?
Yes. Wi-Fi codes hold the network name and the password as plain text; they appear in the content line. If it is not your own network, be careful not to pass that information on.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
