Video Crop
Crops out the part of the frame you don't want.

YOU DECIDE THE FRAME.
Video Crop cuts the parts you do not want out of your video's frame: black bars, the taskbar in a screen recording, an unnecessary edge that crept into the shot, or an area that distracts the viewer. The amount cropped is given as a percentage for each of the four sides separately; because it works in percentages, the same setting produces the same framing at 1080p and on a vertical phone video alike. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM and M4V files can be uploaded up to 10 GB.
The cropped picture is re-encoded as MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP9) or AV1 at three quality levels; the output resolution falls by as much as the area you cropped, and the remaining picture is not scaled. If you want the frame to sit at a specific ratio (16:9, 9:16, 1:1), the “Aspect Ratio Converter” crops it for you without any percentage arithmetic; this tool is for the cases where you want full control and set the edges by hand. You can upload up to 8 videos at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your video. Drag the file in or select it. The resolution and duration are read; look the framing over in the player.
- Enter the edge percentages. Write how much to cut from the left, the top, the right and the bottom as a percentage; choose the output format and the quality. The total cut on one side should not come close to 100%.
- Crop and download. Watch the progress and download the finished video. If the framing is not what you expected, change the percentages and run it again.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a percentage into pixels?
Divide the pixels to be cut by the total size of that side: to cut 192 px from the left of a 1920 px width, write 10% for the left. Vertical and horizontal sides are worked out separately; for 54 px off the top of a 1080 px height, that is 5% from the top.
Does quality drop when cropping?
The remaining picture is not scaled and is carried over exactly; only re-encoding takes place. At the High or Balanced level the difference is not visible to the eye. The output resolution falls by as much as the cropped area; that is not a loss but the natural result of the framing.
Can I crop a landscape video for vertical?
Yes. To turn a 16:9 video into 9:16, cut about 35.8% from the left and the right; the vertical strip in the middle remains. To do the same without any arithmetic, choose 9:16 and Crop in the “Aspect Ratio Converter”.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
