KEEP ONLY THE PART YOU WANT.
Audio Crop keeps only the range you choose from a recording and discards the rest. You set the range with two values: the start second and the length, to a tenth of a second. The default length is 30 seconds. For example, a start of 62 and a length of 20 turns the section between 1:02 and 1:22 into a new file. It’s used to make a ringtone from a song, a quote from a talk, a promo clip from a podcast or a short sample from a recording.
The audio is re-encoded so the cut is precise. The output format can be MP3, Opus, Vorbis, FLAC, WAV or M4A; for lossy formats you choose a bitrate between 64 and 320 kbps. If the length you enter goes past the end of the recording, the result simply ends where the recording ends. This tool keeps the range you choose. If you want the opposite, removing a section from the middle and joining the rest, use “Audio Cutter”. To take a specific section from a video, “Video Cutter” is the better fit. You can upload up to 8 files at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your audio file. Drag and drop or choose the file. The total duration appears on screen.
- Enter the start and length. Type both in seconds; 1 minute 2 seconds is 62. Then choose the output format and bitrate.
- Crop and download. Listen to the result and download it. The copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I type minutes:seconds?
The fields expect seconds. Multiply the minutes by 60 and add the seconds: 3:15 is 195 seconds. You can also enter decimals, such as 12.5 seconds.
Which length and format for a ringtone?
Most phones handle ringtones of 30–40 seconds comfortably. MP3 is enough for Android; for Apple devices you can choose M4A.
Is a fade-in or fade-out added?
Yes, if you want: give the fade-in and fade-out settings a number of seconds and the audio rises from quiet at the start and fades away at the end, which sounds more natural for ringtones and clips. Both are off by default. Placing the cut points in a silence or between sentences also makes the transition sound natural.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
