OPEN YOUR HEIC PHOTOS LOSSLESSLY.
HEIC → PNG converts HEIC (HEIF) files, the default photo format on iPhone and iPad, to PNG. PNG is lossless: no image information is discarded during conversion. That makes it the safest choice for photos you will import into an editor, add text or a logo to, or keep in an archive. Windows, Android and almost every editing program open PNG; HEIC fails to open in many places.
There is no quality setting here, because PNG is a lossless format. The trade-off is file size: a PNG several times larger than the HEIC is normal. If you only want to share the photo or send it by email, “HEIC → JPG” gives a much smaller file. Location and device information is not carried over to the output by default. HEIC is only read, never produced as output, because the format relies on the HEVC patent pool. You can upload up to 20 images at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your HEIC file. Drag and drop or choose the file. .heic and .heif extensions are accepted; photos copied from an iPhone work directly.
- Set your EXIF preference. There is no quality setting; PNG is lossless. While the option is off, location and device information is removed from the output.
- Convert and download. Download the PNG when it is ready. The copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
HEIC → PNG or HEIC → JPG?
Choose PNG if you will edit the image, add text to it or store it losslessly. Choose JPG if you will just share it, send it in a message or upload it to a form; the file will be several times smaller.
Why is the PNG file so large?
HEIC uses very efficient HEVC-based compression, while PNG stores every pixel losslessly. The PNG version of the same photo can be several times the size of the HEIC. To shrink it, convert the result to WebP with “Image Compressor”.
What happens to a Live Photo?
Only the still frame is converted to PNG. The moving part is a separate video file and is not included in this conversion.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
