DROP THE EXTRA PART, JOIN THE REST.
Audio Cutter removes the range you choose from the middle of a recording and joins the two remaining pieces seamlessly. You set the range with two values: the second where the section to cut starts and how long it lasts, to a tenth of a second. For example, a start of 90 and a length of 15 removes the section between 1:30 and 1:45, and 1:29 is followed directly by 1:45. It’s used to remove a cough from an interview, a mistake from a podcast, a long pause from a recording or an ad break.
The audio is re-encoded during cutting; this route was chosen because copying the file as is can leave a click or a short silence at the cut point. The output format can be MP3, Opus, Vorbis, FLAC, WAV or M4A; for lossy formats you choose the bitrate. This tool removes the range you select. If you want the opposite, keeping only the selected range, use “Audio Crop”. To remove all the silences between spoken passages automatically, “Silence Remover” is the better fit. You can upload up to 8 files at once; they are all processed with the same settings, and several files download as a single ZIP.
From start to finish
- Upload your audio file. Drag and drop or choose the file. The total duration appears on screen.
- Enter the range to remove. Type the start and the length in seconds; 2 minutes 5 seconds is 125. Then choose the output format and bitrate.
- Cut and download. Listen to check the transition and download the result. The copy on the server is deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between “Audio Cutter” and “Audio Crop”?
Audio Cutter removes the range you choose and joins the rest. Audio Crop keeps only the range you choose and discards the rest. If you’re making a ringtone or a short clip, use Audio Crop.
Can I remove several sections?
One range is removed per run. For several sections, work from the end backwards: remove the last section first, then upload the result again; that way earlier timestamps don’t shift.
Will there be a click at the cut point?
Because the audio is re-encoded, you won’t get the clicks caused by copying the file directly. If the cut lands in the middle of a word, the transition may still sound abrupt; try shifting the range by a few tenths of a second.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
