Reads EXIF data; removes location and device details.

WHAT IS HIDDEN IN YOUR PHOTO?
Image Metadata reads the information stored inside a photo or image and shows it line by line. The File section lists the format, pixel dimensions, megapixels, color mode, transparency and file size. The EXIF section shows, when present, the camera make and model, lens, date taken, software used, artist and copyright details, exposure time, aperture, ISO, focal length and orientation tag.
The most important line is location: most photos taken with a phone carry GPS coordinates, and that information travels with the image when you share it. If the tool finds a location, it warns you clearly at the top of the report. Below the report a copy with its metadata removed is also ready: EXIF, GPS location, XMP, IPTC and embedded thumbnails are taken out, and the image is not recompressed. The orientation tag left by the phone is kept, so the photo doesn’t end up sideways. It works with JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF files.
From start to finish
- Upload your image. Drag and drop or choose the file. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and other common formats can be read.
- Read the report. The File, EXIF and Location sections appear line by line. If there is a location, a warning appears at the top.
- Download the clean copy. Use “Download file without metadata” to get the copy without location; save the report as JSON if you like. The copies on the server are deleted when you leave the tool.
Frequently asked questions
No EXIF information shows up at all. Why?
Many apps and social networks strip EXIF when they save an image, and screenshots and images downloaded from the web usually have none. In that case the report says “The file has no EXIF data”.
How do I remove the location information?
Upload the photo to this tool and, once the report appears, press “Download file without metadata”. The downloaded copy has no GPS location or other EXIF data; you can check it with this tool too: the Location section should not appear.
Does the clean copy lose quality?
No. The image data is not touched, only the metadata sections are taken out; the pixels stay identical, byte for byte. The file you upload is not changed either, and it is deleted from the server when you leave the tool.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
