TURN A LINK INTO A SQUARE.
The QR Code Generator builds a QR code from whatever you type; you do not need to upload a file. The content can be a link, plain text, a phone number (tel:), an e-mail address (mailto:) or a Wi-Fi setting (WIFI:), up to 900 characters. It gives you a printable code for a menu, a business card, a poster, a leaflet, a product label or an event invitation in seconds. The code you get works forever; there is no redirect service in between, the content is written straight into the code. There are ready-made fields for a Wi-Fi network, business card (vCard), email, SMS, phone and location: pick the type, fill in the fields and the tool builds the format.
Error correction has four levels: L (7%) fits the most data, M (15%) is the recommended balance, and Q (25%) and H (30%) keep the code readable even if part of it gets dirty or a logo is printed over it. The size of the code is set by “pixels per module” (2–40); because modules are drawn on whole pixels, the edges stay crisp. The empty area around the code (the quiet zone) is 4 modules by default; going below that makes it harder for readers to find the code. The dark color can be black, navy, burgundy or dark green; the background can be made transparent if you want. The output is PNG, WebP or SVG; SVG is a vector format and stays sharp at any print size.
From start to finish
- Type the content. Choose the content type. For a link or text, paste it; for Wi-Fi, a business card, email, SMS, phone or location, fill in the matching fields.
- Set the appearance. M for error correction, 8–12 pixels per module and a 4-module quiet zone are a good start.
- Generate and test it. Download the code and scan it with a phone camera before you print it. When you leave the tool the copy on the server is deleted.
Frequently asked questions
Does the QR code I create expire?
No. The content is written straight into the code and there is no service in between; the code works for as long as the link inside it works.
How big should a printed code be?
The rule of thumb is a side length of about one tenth of the scanning distance: a code read from 30 cm should be at least 3 cm. For printing, keep the pixels per module high.
Will a colored or transparent background still scan?
Yes, as long as there is enough contrast between the dark modules and the background. Put a code with a transparent background on a light surface; it will not scan on a dark one.
Does my file stay on the server?
No. Your file reaches the server only to be processed and is deleted when the job is done; the output is deleted too once you download it and leave the tool. You don't need an account, a name or an email address, and your files are never sent to a third-party service. It is free to use: we set no hourly or daily quota on the number of jobs, we don't make you watch an ad before processing, and we add no watermark to the output.
